Morocco exported more than 700 metric tons of fresh raspberries to the Middle East during the first nine months of the 2024/25 marketing year, setting a new regional record, according to EastFruit.
The UAE and Saudi Arabia made up roughly 75% of total shipments. October 2024 was the strongest month on record, with more than 200 metric tons exported, exceeding the combined total of marketing years 2019/20 and 2020/21. Exports typically run from August to June, peaking in October and November, and again in February and May.
In marketing year 2024/25, the Middle East accounted for over 1.5% of Morocco’s total raspberry exports, up from 1.05% in 2022/23 and 0.93% in 2023/24. Meanwhile, in 2019/20, the region represented only 0.23%.
Kuwait tripled its imports over the past three marketing years. Jordan doubled its intake, while UAE volumes rose 67%.
Morocco’s market share is growing fast, reaching 22% in both Bahrain and Jordan, 15% in the UAE, 10% in Qatar, and 5% in Kuwait.
As the world’s second-largest raspberry exporter in 2024, Morocco is expanding its footprint beyond Europe. Exports to the United Kingdom are also rising as the country diversifies its markets.
