The Moroccan Cinema Center (CCM) has officially opened the submission period for Moroccan films vying to represent the country in the 98th Academy Awards in the category of Best International Feature Film, according to a press release issued this week.
The initiative, part of the center’s ongoing efforts to promote Moroccan cinema globally, invites national film producers to submit their applications by July 31, 2025. Eligible submissions include feature-length fiction, documentaries, or animated films over 40 minutes in duration, produced outside the United States and predominantly in a language other than English, in line with the Academy’s strict criteria.
According to the statement, films must have had a commercial theatrical release in Morocco for at least seven consecutive days between October 1, 2024, and September 30, 2025, to qualify. The purpose is to ensure that selected films have achieved meaningful domestic visibility and meet international industry standards.
