Fatima Ezzahra El Idrissi clinched the gold medal in the T12 marathon at the Paralympic Games, finishing with an outstanding time of 2 hours, 48 minutes, and 36 seconds, successfully breaking the world record in Paris.
Her fellow Moroccan, Meryem En-Nourhi, also made headlines by securing the silver medal alongside her guide, Abdelhadi El Harti, with a remarkable time of 2 hours, 58 minutes, and 18 seconds—her personal best. The bronze medal was awarded to Spain’s Elena Congost, who crossed the finish line in 3 hours, 0 minutes, and 48 seconds, aided by her guide, Mia Carol Bruguera.
With these achievements, Morocco is currently positioned 30th on the medal table. The country also celebrated additional gold medals for Mouncef Bouja in the T12 400m and Aymane El Haddaoui in the T47 400m, along with El Idrissi’s marathon triumph.
Morocco garnered silver medals through Fatima Ezzahra El Idrissi in the 1500m (T13), Abdelillah Gani in the shot put (F53), Youssra Karim in discus throw (F41), Azeddine Nouiri in shot put (F34), and Meryem En-Nourhi in the T12 marathon.
In the bronze category, Morocco claimed medals from Aymane El Haddaoui in the 100m (T47), Ayoub Adouich and Rajae Akermach in para-taekwondo (K44), Saida Amoudi in shot put (F34), Zakariae Derhem in shot put (F33), and El Amin Chentouf in the marathon (T12).
