Tourism in Morocco is showing promising growth as tourism receipts in foreign currency hit 59.4 billion dirhams during the first seven months of 2024. The Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy reported this significant achievement during a recent government meeting. This figure marks a 3.5% increase compared to the same period last year, amounting to an additional 2 billion dirhams.
– Tourist arrivals surged to 4.4 million in July and August, reflecting a remarkable 21% increase from the previous year.
– In total, there were an impressive 11.8 million tourist arrivals in the first eight months of 2024, which is an increase of 1.6 million compared to the same timeframe in 2023.
– This upward trend is attributed to the government’s commitment to the 2023-2026 tourism roadmap, launched in March 2023. Key focuses include enhancing air travel connections and boosting marketing strategies.
– As a result, air transport capacity has been ramped up by 30% compared to 2023, allowing for greater accessibility for tourists.
These developments illustrate Morocco’s dedication to revitalizing its tourism sector and creating a more inviting atmosphere for visitors from around the globe.
