The Confederation of African Football (CAF) presented the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Trophy to Rwandan fans in Kigali on Monday as part of its ongoing promotional tour for the upcoming 2025 tournament in Morocco.
Held along with the official launch of the 2025 International Cycling Union (UCI) Road World Championships, the ceremony united football and cycling enthusiasts in a symbolic celebration of African sport.
Fans had the chance to admire the continent’s most prestigious football trophy while participating in the festivities, according to a statement published by CAF.
Rwanda’s football legends Jimmy Umulisa and Nibagwire Sifa Gloria led the presentation, joined by CAF Ambassadors including Tunisia’s 2004 AFCON champion Karim Haggui and Rwandan icon Haruna Niyonzima.
Alice Niyoyita, Rwanda’s all-time leading scorer in women’s football, also took part and will continue to accompany the trophy on the next stages of its tour.
The Kigali showcase followed CAF’s recent celebrations commemorating 100 days to kick off. The AFCON 2025 finals will take place in Morocco from December 21 to January 18, 2026.
The trophy tour will continue with stops in other African countries to maintain momentum and build anticipation.
