The 2025 edition of the Imilchil Engagement Season and the High Atlas Music Festival opened Thursday in Bouzmou and Imilchil, in Morocco’s Midelt province, with a program of cultural and artistic events celebrating local traditions.
Organized by the Akhi Am Association in partnership with local communes under the theme “Authentic Heritage and Sustainable Tourism Serving Local Development”, the festival aims to preserve ancestral customs of the High Atlas while promoting cultural and environmental heritage as drivers of economic growth.
The program features folk music performances from across Morocco, craft and local product exhibitions, academic seminars, sports competitions, and youth activities.
As in previous years, a highlight is the traditional collective wedding ceremony bringing together couples from various regional tribes.
Supported by the Midelt provincial authorities and other partners, the event also serves as a platform for trade and tourism, attracting Moroccan and international visitors to discover the area’s Amazigh music, dance, and heritage.
