The “Jouri Tétouan” women’s cooperative from the Achkarad village in the Bni Hassan commune of Tetouan received the “Tamayuz” Award for Moroccan Women on Wednesday in Rabat for its work in promoting rural women’s participation in Morocco’s economy, Morocco’s News Agency (MAP) reported.
Presented by Morocco’s Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration, and Family, the Tamayuz award supports emerging female entrepreneurs, project leaders, and professionals who stand out for their innovative or powerful development initiatives.
Jouri Tétouan’s President, Lamia Kharbash, said she was elated to receive the award on behalf of her cooperative and that it recognizes the hard work of Moroccan women.
“This award will motivate us to increase our productivity and continue our work with enthusiasm and dedication to further develop the financial and business skills of rural women using technology.”
“Femmes Dades,” a cooperative from the Khamis Dades area in Tinghir province in the Draa-Tafilalet region, received second prize. It is working on digitizing its management system to expand its outreach to new customers in the flower industry.
“Tithrit Mode,” a cooperative from Tata province in the Souss-Massa region that promotes Amazigh cultural heritage, strengthens the Amazigh national and international standing and supports traditional handicrafts, won third prize.
This year’s award ceremony celebrated “Financial Inclusion and Artificial Intelligence: Pillars of Women’s Socio-Economic Empowerment.” The annual Tamayuz award recognizes the innovative contributions of women to the Kingdom’s overall economic, social, and cultural development to strengthen women’s rights and improve women’s status in society.
