Organizers of Mawazine “Rhythms of the World” festival have announced that the 21st edition will take place from June 19 to 27 in Rabat, ending weeks of uncertainty around one of Morocco’s largest music events.
The festival also confirmed French rapper Ninho as the opening act on June 19 at the OLM Souissi stage, signaling a focus on high-profile, youth-oriented programming.
The announcement follows a period of silence that had fueled speculation over organizational readiness, particularly after criticism surrounding the previous edition, which some observers said fell short in programming quality and logistics.
Mawazine remains a major cultural fixture in Morocco, known for attracting international and regional artists across multiple venues. Organizers appear to be returning to a traditional late-June schedule as they seek to restore the festival’s standing after last year’s mixed reception.
The upcoming edition is expected to test the organizers’ ability to address past shortcomings while maintaining the festival’s scale and global appeal.
