Moroccan coach Tarik Sektioui expressed his enthusiasm Monday after being appointed head coach of the Oman national football team, pledging to build a comprehensive program balancing immediate results with long-term development.
Speaking at a press conference in Muscat, Sektioui said he received a warm welcome upon arrival, which he described as “a responsibility to meet the expectations of fans and contribute to the development of football in the country.”
Sektioui emphasized his intention to bring Morocco’s recent football successes to Oman, highlighting the structured approach Morocco has adopted over recent years — including grassroots development and age-level strategies — and plans to gradually implement a similar framework with the Omani team.
“The current phase requires intensive work, particularly in renewing the squad,” Sektioui said. “Building a competitive team means developing players physically and mentally, improving tactical aspects, and ensuring balance between defense and attack.”
On Oman’s attacking challenges, he noted that the issue is not limited to forwards. “It’s about the collective system,” he said, stressing the importance of player positioning and efficiency across the pitch.
Sektioui also highlighted the need to invest in youth development. “Establishing clear training programs and developing age-level competitions are essential to prepare a new generation capable of elevating the national team in the future,” he said.
Concluding his remarks, the Moroccan coach underlined his commitment to working closely with all stakeholders in Omani football, aiming not only for short-term success but also to lay the foundation for a sustainable football project that strengthens the national team over the long term.
