Morocco and the African Union Commission officially launched the fourth edition of the Election Observer Training Program on Monday in Rabat, reaffirming their shared commitment to peace and stability across the continent.

In his opening remarks, Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita emphasized Morocco’s ongoing dedication to supporting African peace and promoting inclusive governance through this initiative. He noted that this year’s session comes at a time of significant electoral events both across Africa and globally, underlining the need for well-trained observers to support stability and good governance.

Bourita highlighted efforts to enhance women’s roles in election observation through this program, reflecting Morocco’s national and international commitment to gender inclusion. The current session includes 120 participants from various countries, showcasing the program’s growing diversity and reach.

Bourita also stressed that the program aligns with King Mohammed VI’s broader vision for safeguarding peace and security across Africa.

AU Commissioner Bankole Adeoye praised Morocco’s leadership in institutionalizing and strengthening the program since its launch in 2022, especially amid growing challenges facing African democracies.
