Morocco’s business federation, the Confederation General of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), and Mexico’s Confederation of Industrial Chambers (CONCAMIN) signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday to strengthen economic and industrial cooperation between the two countries.
The agreement, signed by CGEM President Chakib Alj and CONCAMIN President Alejandro Malagón Barragán, is intended to expand bilateral trade, explore new investment opportunities, and build partnerships in key sectors such as industry, agribusiness, tourism, renewable energy, and technology innovation.
The memorandum also paves the way for organizing joint trade fairs and industrial forums, supporting dialogue between private sector actors, and potentially establishing a joint commission to oversee future cooperation projects.
The signing took place during a four-day economic mission by CGEM to Mexico (September 22–25), organized with Morocco’s embassy in Mexico City. The mission aims to deepen trade relations and identify long-term opportunities for collaboration between the Moroccan and Mexican private sectors.
In 2023, bilateral trade between Morocco and Mexico was approximately USD 653 million. Morocco’s exports to Mexico in 2023 were around USD 324.9 million. Meanwhile, Mexico exported about USD 30.45 million worth of goods to Morocco in 2024, according to data from Trading Economics.
