A planned next generation data center dedicated to artificial intelligence is moving closer to reality in Morocco, with an international consortium selecting the Nouaceur area outside Casablanca for a project estimated at $1.2 billion, according to Africa Intelligence.
The publication reported this week that the site choice marks a concrete new step for one of Morocco’s most ambitious digital infrastructure projects as the kingdom pushes to position itself as a regional technology hub by 2030.
Naver said in June 2025 that Naver Cloud, Nexus Core Systems, Lloyds Capital and Nvidia had formed a consortium to build a 500 megawatt AI data center in Morocco to serve Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with Taqa Morocco set to supply renewable energy.
Naver said the platform would rely on Nvidia’s latest GPU architecture for sovereign AI and high density computing workloads.
