The 45th Cairo International Film Festival, held on November 13-22, kicked off on Wednesday, with several countries participating including Morocco.
Moroccan cinema is taking part in the “International Film Critics Week” competition, in which seven films are competing, including “Radia,” directed by Morocco’s Khaoula Assebab Benomar.
The jury for this competition includes Moroccan actress Nisrin Erradi, Irish director of the Dublin International Film Festival, Grainne Humphreys, and Egyptian director Khaled El Hagar.
Morocco is also participating in the “Horizons of Arab Cinema” competition, with the film “Marja Zarqa” (Blue Lagoon) directed by Daoud Oulad Al-Sayed, alongside 13 other works of cinema.
The Moroccan film “Ana Machi Ana,” (I am not myself) directed by Hicham El Jabbari, is also on the list of films in the special screening program, which includes 12 feature-length films.
On the sidelines of the festival, the tenth edition of the “Cairo Film Connection” will be held on November 17-20. The event features 18 film projects from 13 countries, divided between the development and post-production phases.
The Moroccan film “Al-Matroud Min Rahmat Allah” (Banished from the mercy of God) by director Hicham Al-Assri, produced by Lamia Chraibi, is entered in the CFC projects in post-production category.
