Qatar Airways will move to JFK’s New Terminal One in 2026 and open its first US lounge as part of its expanded New York operations.
Qatar Airways will begin operations at John F. Kennedy International Airport’s new Terminal One in 2026, where it plans to open its first dedicated lounge in the United States.
The Doha-based carrier, recently named Skytrax World’s Best Airline 2025 for the ninth time, will move from Terminal 8 to the new $19 billion facility currently under construction at JFK. The 15,000-square-foot lounge will be the airline’s first in New York City and its first in the US.
The new facility will provide Business Class passengers with direct access to boarding gates, VIP check-in, relaxation areas, prayer rooms, children’s play spaces, and premium food, beverage, and shopping options. Qatar Airways said the move is part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in New York, one of its key US destinations.
Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said the move reflects the airline’s “long-standing commitment to connecting global travellers to New York” and will complement its “industry-leading Business Class travel experience”.
The New Terminal One CEO Jennifer Aument welcomed the airline’s announcement, saying the partnership “reaffirms the strong value we offer international carriers seeking to grow their presence in New York”.
The New Terminal One project is part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s redevelopment of JFK, which will add two new terminals, expand two others, and overhaul the airport’s ground transport and roadway network.
Qatar Airways began serving New York in 2008 and currently operates 18 weekly flights from JFK to its Doha hub, connecting US travellers to more than 170 destinations worldwide. The airline serves 11 US cities and carries more than three million passengers annually on its American routes.
