Jimenez became widely known for her long-standing advocacy related to the Western Sahara, where she emerged as a prominent female voice critical of the Polisario Front. Her activism was rooted in personal tragedy. Her father was killed in an armed attack carried out by Polisario fighters targeting Canary Island civilians during the period of Spanish decolonization, an event that profoundly shaped her public engagement.

Jimenez went on to found and lead the Canary Association of Victims of Terrorism, which worked to reopen cases involving attacks on Canary fishermen and civilians near the Sahara and to press for accountability.
