Stellantis has opened its first vehicle dismantling center in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) with a new facility in Casablanca, the company said Tuesday.
The facility is the automaker’s third dismantling center worldwide, after Turin, Italy, and São Paulo, Brazil. Stellantis said the site will support its circular economy strategy in Morocco and sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on end-of-life vehicle management, parts reuse, and recycling.
The 6,000-square-meter site, costing €1.6 million, can dismantle up to 10,000 vehicles a year. Stellantis said it expects the center to create about 150 direct and indirect jobs when it reaches full capacity.
The Casablanca center will source vehicles from insurance companies, auctions, and end-of-life vehicle channels, according to the company. It will dismantle vehicles, sell reusable original parts, and collect parts for recycling, including traction batteries.
Samir Cherfan, Stellantis’ chief operating officer for the Middle East and Africa, said the circular economy strategy helps the company combine industrial performance, affordability, and responsible resource use.
The new center will operate under Stellantis’ circular economy division, known as SUSTAINera, which offers remanufactured, repaired, reused, and recycled parts through the company’s after-sales network, and through partner repairers, Distrigo hubs, and digital platforms.
Stellantis said the Casablanca site will serve as a regional pilot project for structured and traceable end-of-life vehicle management in the MEA region.
