More than a third of all flights from Saudi Arabia were canceled or did not fly on Monday amid continued attacks by Iran-aligned Houthi rebels, according to aviation analytics company Cirium.
Around 322 out of 941 (or 34%) scheduled flights from the kingdom were canceled or did not fly on Monday, said Cirium. This marked an improvement from Sunday when more than half of all scheduled flights in Saudi Arabia were canceled or did not fly, the data showed.
Although King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh reopened on Sunday after a week-long shutdown, the majority of international and regional airlines continued to suspend flights to the city. Riyadh airport reported the most canceled flights (66%) on Monday, followed by Abha (48%), Dammam (31%), and Jeddah (15%), Cirium data showed.
An attack on King Khalid International in Riyadh on October 10 killed 12 people and injured more than 300, according to Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority.&nbs
