In a statement released by the Ministry’s Public Relations and Security Media Department, Sheikh Fahad emphasized that the introduction of these unmanned boats represents a major step forward in modernizing maritime security through the adoption of cutting-edge technologies. This initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy by the Coast Guard to enhance protection of Kuwait’s coasts and territorial waters using smart and automated solutions.
Sheikh Fahad highlighted the Ministry of Interior’s dedication to strengthening field readiness and utilizing intelligent technologies to safeguard national security and stability. He commended the General Directorate of Coast Guard for their role in successfully implementing this innovative project.
Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Sabah, Director General of the Coast Guard, provided an overview of the unmanned boats’ advanced operational capabilities. He noted that these vessels can function autonomously for several days without direct human intervention. Their key missions include continuous maritime reconnaissance and surveillance, tracking and intercepting suspicious vessels, supporting search and rescue operations, monitoring environmental pollution, and protecting natural resources.
During his visit, Sheikh Fahad was briefed on the smart marine monitoring system designed to cover Kuwait’s entire maritime domain. The system integrates coastal radars, sensors, high-resolution cameras, and unmanned boats within a unified platform controlled by a smart command center enhanced with artificial intelligence technology.
The minister also inspected the marine operations room and the drone control center, where he observed the operational mechanisms, monitoring procedures, and electronic communication systems linking naval units with command centers.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Major General Ali Al-Adwani, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, and Major General Mujbil bin Shawq, Assistant Undersecretary for Border Security Affairs.
This advancement underscores Kuwait’s commitment to leveraging modern technologies to reinforce maritime security and protect its sovereign waters.
