Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has expanded its domestic flight network to strengthen air connectivity across Morocco, with a focus on the southern provinces, the national carrier said in a statement on Thursday.
The initiative seeks to promote regional mobility, boost tourism, and support local economic development.
The move was made in partnership with the regional councils of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, and Guelmim-Oued Noun. The plan aligns with Morocco’s broader strategy to interconnect all regions of the Kingdom and better serve citizens’ needs.
RAM has seen steady growth in its domestic offer from the southern provinces since 2005, increasing from an average of six weekly flights—equivalent to 90,000 seats—to 63 weekly flights totaling nearly one million seats in 2025.
“Our mission is to connect all Moroccan regions efficiently and support the social and economic vitality of our territories,” said Abdelhamid Addou, Chair and CEO of RAM. “Expanding our presence in the south reflects our commitment to the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, ensuring better mobility and fostering national cohesion.”
Two new direct routes from Marrakech were inaugurated in October 2025. The Marrakech–Laâyoune route operates twice a week, on Wednesdays and Fridays, with flights departing Laâyoune at 4 p.m. (Morocco time) and arriving in Marrakech at 5:20 p.m.
Return flights leave Marrakech at 6:10 p.m. and arrive in Laâyoune at 7:40 p.m. The fare is set at MAD 750 one-way in economy class. The Marrakech–Dakhla route also operates twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays.
Flights depart Dakhla at 3:05 p.m. and arrive in Marrakech at 4:55 p.m., while return flights leave Marrakech at 5:45 p.m. and land in Dakhla at 7:55 p.m., priced at MAD 800 one-way in economy class.
The capital, Rabat, will also see increased flight frequencies to southern Morocco. The Rabat–Laâyoune route will now operate three times a week—on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
The Rabat–Dakhla connection will also increase to three weekly flights, on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The airline has optimized schedules on both routes to improve passenger comfort.
In Casablanca, Royal Air Maroc has expanded its service to Laâyoune, Guelmim, and Tan-Tan while introducing a new route to Es-Smara. The Casablanca–Laâyoune route now offers 15 weekly flights, including a newly added Sunday service.
The Casablanca–Guelmim route has been increased to five direct weekly flights, and the previous combined flights with Tan-Tan have been separated to offer greater flexibility. Casablanca–Tan-Tan will now operate three direct flights per week, independently of Guelmim.
For the first time, Royal Air Maroc will launch a direct route between Casablanca and Es-Smara on November 6, 2025, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the historic Green March. The new service will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. Flights will depart Casablanca at 4:50 p.m. and arrive in Es-Smara at 7:20 p.m., with return flights leaving Es-Smara at 8 p.m. and landing in Casablanca at 10:20 p.m.
Royal Air Maroc said these developments aim to make travel more convenient for residents of Morocco’s southern provinces while supporting domestic tourism and improving regional mobility.
The company also seeks to facilitate access for international visitors to the country’s southern regions through its main hub in Casablanca and via Marrakech, but to a less frequent extent.
