US President Donald Trump received the newly created FIFA peace award on Friday in Washington, where the ceremony coincided with the draw for the 2026 World Cup finals.
FIFA said the award was introduced to honor figures who work to unite people and promote hope for future generations.
The presentation took place during the official draw event for the tournament, which will be co hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Sports and political figures attended the event, alongside representatives from national football associations.
FIFA has not previously issued this award, making Trump the first recipient under the new category.
