Fouzi Lekjaa, Morocco’s Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget and President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), called for intensified dialogue and coordination between public and private stakeholders from the countries scheduled to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
Speaking on Tuesday at the opening of the Morocco–Spain–Portugal Business Forum on the 2030 World Cup in Salé, Lekjaa said closer consultations would help share experience and best practices.
FRMF’s head noted that the 2030 World Cup should be “a unifying project serving young people, fostering closer ties between nations, and contributing to a shared future based on cooperation, innovation, and progress.”
The joint bid is deeply connected to the three countries’ long-standing cultural, civilizational, and economic ties, Lekjaa said. For the official, this “offers an opportunity to leverage their combined strengths to deliver a smooth, coherent, and exemplary tournament,” he said.
Ensuring the success of more than 100 matches within a limited timeframe requires continuous coordination, strong collective intelligence, and close harmonization of infrastructure, transportation systems, and management mechanisms.
Major companies responsible for building infrastructure and stadiums, and smaller firms involved in ticketing and entry security, will help deliver multiple projects across the three host countries.
Lekjaa also said that the hosting of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) was carried out under “exceptional” conditions, highlighting Morocco’s competence in its workforce and the ability of Moroccan companies to design, build, and manage complex events.
He further noted that investments in sports infrastructure, particularly through modern and integrated complexes, reflect a comprehensive approach combining social, economic, and territorial dimensions.
Moroccan Employers’ Body (CGEM), the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE), and the Portuguese Business Confederation (CIP) jointly sponsored the forum.
The forum seeks to promote joint business opportunities, share best practices and successful experiences, encourage innovation, and maximize the long-term impact of investments linked to the 2030 World Cup.
