Morocco saw a surge in new business registrations in 2025, with more than 109,000 companies and individual enterprises added to the commercial register, official data shows.
The Moroccan Office of Industrial and Commercial Property reported that 109,644 businesses were registered last year, a 14.6% increase compared with 2024.
Most of the new businesses were companies or legal entities, which accounted for over 78,000 registrations.
Limited liability companies with a single partner remained the most popular legal form, making up nearly 65% of new registrations, followed by standard limited liability companies at 34%.
Individual enterprises, or sole proprietorships, totaled 31,029 for the year.
Regionally, the northern Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region led in new individual businesses with 21.5%, followed by the Oriental region at 11.7% and Casablanca-Settat at 11.1%.
For companies and legal entities, Casablanca-Settat dominated with 38.8%, followed by Rabat-Salé-Kénitra at 13.9%, Marrakech-Safi at 12.6%, and Tanger-Tetouan-Al Hoceima at 11%.
Trade remained the most dynamic sector, accounting for 35.7% of all new businesses, followed by construction, public works, and real estate at 19.6%, and other services at 17.6%.
Transportation made up 7.8%, manufacturing 7%, hotels and restaurants 5.7%, information and communications technology 2.9%, financial services 1.9%, and agriculture and fisheries 1.8%.
The office reported growth in trademarks and patents. Trademark filings reached 32,091 last year with 68% originating from Moroccan applicants.
The chemical industry, including hygiene products and cleaning supplies, led filings at 21%, followed by advertising and business services at 17%, and pharmaceuticals at 15%.
Patent applications grew to 2,983, a 2% increase from 2024. Moroccan-origin applications surged 34%, led by the pharmaceutical sector at 23%, biotechnology at 11%, and fine organic chemistry at 9%.
