Dubai has launched “A Dubai Invite,” a programme that turns residents into city ambassadors. If you invite family or friends who live outside the UAE to visit between 20 July and 31 October 2026, each eligible guest unlocks a rewards package worth more than AED 3,000 in hotel, dining, and attraction perks. It is a real incentive to finally get those relatives over. What the scheme does not cover is the part every host ends up managing: moving a car-load of visitors around a city built for driving. That is where a rental car in Dubai does the heavy lifting.
Here is how the programme works, and how to plan the getting-around side before your guests land.
What “A Dubai Invite” actually gives you
The programme is run through Visit Dubai. If you are a UAE resident or citizen aged 18 or over with a valid Emirates ID, you can nominate visitors who live outside the country and are travelling on a tourist or visit visa, or who qualify for visa on arrival.
The details worth knowing before you nominate:
- Who qualifies: residents and citizens, 18+, with a valid Emirates ID. Guests must be non-residents arriving on a tourist or visit visa.
- The window: guests must arrive between 20 July and 31 October 2026, whether by air, sea, or road.
- The reward: each successful nomination unlocks a package valued at over AED 3,000, spanning hotel stays, dining, and experiences. Featured hotel offers have included discounts as steep as 45 percent at some properties, room upgrades, and free nights at others.
- The limits: you can nominate up to five visitors at a time, with more allowed through separate submissions, and you can claim a maximum of three reward packages during the campaign. Each visitor can be nominated once.
- The deadlines: nominate before your guests arrive. Reward emails are sent within roughly 72 hours of a confirmed arrival, and all rewards must be redeemed by 31 December 2026.
You nominate through the official form on the Visit Dubai website. The programme does not arrange flights, visas, or accommodation, so you are still the one planning the trip. And once your guests are here, the perks get them into hotels and restaurants, but not between them.
The gap the rewards do not fill: transport
A visitor package covers where your guests sleep and where they eat. It does not solve a Dubai day that runs from a Palm Jumeirah brunch to the Dubai Mall aquarium to a desert sunset in one afternoon. Those points sit far apart, and the distances add up fast on Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road.
Ride-hailing partners are part of the scheme, and they are fine for a single hop. But four or five people bouncing between attractions across several days will watch per-trip fares stack up quickly, and juggling pickups with kids and shopping bags gets old by day two. For a family or a group, one vehicle for the length of the stay is usually cheaper and far less stressful than counting individual rides.
This is the practical case for a car rental in Dubai during your guests’ visit. You get a single predictable cost, no waiting on the kerb, and the freedom to build the day around your family instead of around ride availability.
Renting a car for your visitors, the practical version
On OneClickDrive, you can browse listings from hundreds of car rental dealers across Dubai and the wider UAE, and compare them side by side before booking. If it is your first time arranging one, start with these ten things to know before renting a car in Dubai. A few things worth planning around:
Match the car to the group. A couple visiting for a long weekend needs something very different from parents plus three kids doing a two-week stay. You can filter listings by body type, so a 7-seater SUV for the family trips and a compact for the solo airport runs are both easy to find.
Think in weeks, not just days. Because the arrival window runs across more than three months, plenty of guests will stay for extended periods. Monthly car rental in Dubai often works out far cheaper per day than booking day by day, and many listings are set up specifically for longer stays. If your visitors are around for two weeks or more, price the monthly option first.
Sort out who drives. Tourists can generally drive in the UAE on an International Driving Permit alongside their home licence, or on an accepted foreign licence for short visits. Requirements vary by nationality, so confirm the exact documents with the rental dealer at pickup. If nobody in the group wants to deal with Dubai traffic or unfamiliar roads, you can also filter for chauffeur-driven listings and let someone else take Sheikh Zayed Road while your guests look out the window.
Book before they land. July through October is peak season for this scheme, and the better-value listings move quickly. Reserving before arrival means the car is ready at the airport instead of scrambling for one after a long flight.
On OneClickDrive you can compare options across dealers, see terms up front, and connect directly, with no agent fees and no hidden charges. The app carries a 4.5-star rating across more than 300,000 downloads, so you are booking through a marketplace that plenty of UAE residents already use.
If a guest decides to stay
Sometimes a two-week visit turns into “what would it take to move here?” Dubai has a way of doing that. If a guest, or you as the host, ends up thinking longer term, a rental stops being the sensible choice and buying does.
OneClickDrive is a used car marketplace as well as a rental one. You can explore thousands of used car listings from dealers and private sellers, filter by make, model, budget, and GCC spec, and compare before committing. Whether it is a first family SUV or an economical daily driver for the commute down Al Khail Road, the same platform that sorted the holiday rental can help find the car worth owning. As always with a used car, do your own due diligence: follow a proper used-car buying checklist and get an independent inspection before you buy.
Before you nominate
“A Dubai Invite” is a genuinely good reason to get your people over this year, and the AED 3,000-plus in perks is real value. Nominate your guests on the Visit Dubai site before they arrive, line up their hotels and plans, and sort the car early so the days between all those rewards run smoothly.
Then browse rental listings on OneClickDrive, pick the vehicle that fits the group, and let your visitors actually enjoy Dubai instead of waiting on the next ride.
