The Luxeed RX broke cover in China this month, and on its own that would be a story for another market. Paired with what happened in Abu Dhabi a fortnight earlier, it matters here.
On 28 July, Luxeed signed its first overseas dealer partnership with Abu Dhabi’s Omeir Bin Youssef Group. Days before that it had run a media test drive of its R7 at DIFC.
Luxeed is not a name most UAE drivers know yet. It should be, because of who is behind it: it is the premium electric brand from Chery, already one of the most familiar Chinese badges on Emirates roads, built in partnership with Huawei. So this is not a new entrant arriving cold. It is a brand you already buy, moving upmarket with a technology partner most people carry in their pocket.
What the RX actually is

On price, Carscoops expects it to land near the Xiaomi YU7, which starts at RMB 253,500, a little over 37,000 US dollars. Treat that as an expectation rather than a number, because Luxeed has not published one.
The range figure is the part to be careful with
852 km is a headline that travels well and means less than it sounds.
That number is measured on CLTC, China’s own test cycle, which is considerably gentler than WLTP and much gentler than the EPA method. As a working rule, take a CLTC figure and knock roughly a fifth to a quarter off it before you have something resembling WLTP, and expect real driving to land lower still.
Then apply the UAE on top. Summer here is the hardest environment an EV battery meets: air conditioning running constantly, cabins soaking at 45 degrees plus, and the energy cost of cooling the battery itself. A car quoting 852 km CLTC is not a car that does 852 km between Dubai and Abu Dhabi and back in August. It is a genuinely long-range car whose real number is a good deal lower, and anyone selling you the CLTC figure as the range is not being straight with you.
This is not a criticism of Luxeed. Every brand quotes the friendliest legal cycle for its home market. It is a reason to ask which cycle a range figure came from, every time, whichever badge is on the bonnet.
Why the Abu Dhabi deal is the real story
The RX itself is a China launch. It has not been announced for the UAE, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
What has been announced is the brand’s arrival. The Omeir Bin Youssef partnership is Luxeed’s first overseas dealer agreement anywhere, which makes the UAE the opening move in its international plan rather than an afterthought. Committed so far: a pop-up boutique showroom at Marina Mall to start sales early, and a 3S flagship showroom in Abu Dhabi by the end of 2026. Beyond that, the stated ambition is three showrooms across Abu Dhabi within three years, which is a plan rather than a promise.

The R7 test drive at DIFC in July tells you the same thing from the marketing side: the groundwork is being laid now.
So the RX is best read as a product signal. It shows the standard Chery and Huawei intend to compete at, and models of this type follow dealer networks once those networks exist.
What this means if you buy cars here
The premium Chinese tier is arriving, not just the value tier. Most Chinese-brand growth in the UAE so far has been won on equipment for the money. A Chery brand pitched at Xiaomi money with Huawei software is a different proposition, and it will put pressure on the mid-premium German and Japanese range rather than on budget SUVs.

Judge the service network, not the launch event. A brand-new badge lives or dies on where you can get it fixed and how quickly parts arrive. Luxeed’s showroom timeline is public and specific, which is a good sign, but a first flagship store opening at the end of 2026 is a young network. That is worth weighing against a marque with a decade of Emirates service history, especially if you keep cars past warranty.
Wait for local range figures before you plan around them. When these cars reach UAE showrooms, ask for the WLTP number or, better, for a real-world figure in summer conditions. Our guide to EV charging in the UAE covers where the network actually reaches today.
