Egypt-based Beltone Venture Capital, the investment arm of Beltone Holding, has invested in Moroccan eyewear startup LNKO. The funding aims to support LNKO’s expansion across Africa, the funding total remains unknown, according to business platform “Wamda.”

Founded in 2020 by Maha Bennani, LNKO offers direct-to-customer (D2C) eyewear, including sunglasses and optical frames. The company has served over 100,000 customers and operates across 10 retail locations in Morocco, with a strong online presence in 24 other countries.

CEO of Beltone Venture Capital, Ali Mokhtar, called the investment a milestone in the firm’s African expansion strategy. “LNKO’s innovative approach and commitment to community empowerment align with our mission to support transformative businesses,” he said.

LNKO’s CEO and Founder, Bennani, expressed excitement about the partnership. “Beltone’s expertise in D2C startups will help us make stylish, high-quality eyewear accessible to more people across the continent,” she added.

The investment follows LNKO’s USD 335,000 funding round in 2021 from Moroccan-based CDG Invest. LNKO aims to strengthen its position as a leader in the eyewear market, leveraging its fully digitized value chain and affordable pricing.

The partnership highlights a growing interest in African startups and the potential for cross-border collaborations to drive innovation and accessibility in the region.
