The historic Bab Boujloud square in Fès came alive on Saturday evening with the display of the largest map of Morocco, under the slogan “From the Green March to the March of Development.”
This event, organized by the Association des Initiatives pour Consolider les Bases de l’État Social (Association for Initiatives to Strengthen the Foundations of the Social State), featured a 50-meter-long, 35-meter-wide map of Morocco, with the national anthem of the Kingdom displayed prominently in the center, MAP reported.
The ceremony included excerpts from speeches given by the late King Hassan II during the Green March, as well as a passage from a speech by King Mohammed VI commemorating the anniversary of the Green March.
This initiative, which also included various traditional music and dance performances celebrating the Green March, is part of the activities of the First Fès Forum, launched in mid-November under the theme “The Fès Charter for a General Mobilization in Support of Territorial Integrity.”
President of the organizing association, Fadoua Dadoune described the event as an exceptional moment for the association, as it commemorates the independence of Morocco and the Green March.
The exhibition’s director, artist Driss Roukh, pointed out that the spectacle serves as a pivotal moment to celebrate national cohesion and Moroccan pride related to the Green March and the independence struggle.
