France called on Tuesday to deploy an international stabilization mission to ensure the security of Israeli and Palestinians and contribute to the implementation of the two-State solution.
During a press briefing, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs’ spokesperson specified that “at the initiative of the Republic’s President, France is working, in cooperation with its partners and the United States, that this mission can see the light of day and change the situation in Gaza,” adding that “France recommends that this mission takes the form of an international coalition mandated by the United Nations Security Council and be led by regional partners.”
It will constitute “a credible way to end the permanent war and to build lasting peace in the region,” the same source added.
The spokesperson added “the future of the Gaza Strip must be part of a future Palestinian state led by the Palestinian Authority,” noting that “France is mobilized for the implementation of the two-State solution, the only way to guarantee peace and sustainable security for the Israelis and Palestinians.”
He added that “we must put an end to this war immediately with a permanent ceasefire.”
Paris condemned the Israeli airstrike that caused the deaths of a team of journalists from the Al-Jazeera news channel in the Gaza Strip during the exercise of their field information mission.
It also expressed “deep concern about the heavy toll being paid by journalists in Gaza: since the beginning of the conflict, more than 200 have found their demise due to Israeli strikes.”
