Senior Moroccan officials convened Friday at the Interior Ministry of Morocco for an emergency meeting of the national flood monitoring committee, as authorities stepped up response measures in Ksar El Kebir following severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall and dam releases.
The National Flood Monitoring and Management Committee on Friday praised the royal instructions issued by King Mohammed VI calling for the immediate intervention of the Royal Armed Forces and the deployment of significant human and logistical resources to assist populations affected by flooding, according to a statement by MAP.
The meeting brought together ministers and senior officials from security, water management, infrastructure and emergency services to assess the evolving situation on the ground, review damage, and coordinate ongoing interventions aimed at protecting residents and limiting further losses.
Authorities focused in particular on areas affected by rising water levels linked to exceptional rainfall and the full capacity of several dams in northern Morocco.
Officials reviewed evacuation operations carried out over recent days, the deployment of civil protection units, and the reinforcement of logistical and human resources in vulnerable neighborhoods.
The committee also examined measures to manage water flows in the Loukkos and Sebou river basins, with the aim of preventing further flooding downstream.
