Interior minister Abdelouafi Laftit is expected to convene a high level meeting on Friday with ministers overseeing multiple departments to monitor the situation in Ksar el Kebir, where exceptional flooding has followed heavy rainfall and controlled releases from the Oued El Makhazine dam, sources told Hespress.
The meeting is expected to bring together senior officials from several sectors as authorities seek to reinforce preventive measures already deployed on the ground and avoid loss of life or major damage, the same source said.
Hespress said decisions under discussion could include evacuations for residents in neighbourhoods where streets have been overwhelmed by rising water levels, with water reaching around one metre inside many homes.
