Morocco’s government approved on Tuesday a draft decree to establish a Construction and Public Works Training Institute in the city of Fes, as part of efforts to strengthen vocational training and address skills shortages in key infrastructure sectors.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting, which endorsed Draft Decree No. 2.25.950 presented by the Minister of Equipment and Water. The project falls under the Millennium Challenge Account-Morocco program, particularly its education and training for employment component, according to a government statement.
The institute will offer initial vocational training as well as continuing education for workers in the construction and public works sector, with the goal of better aligning skills development with labor market needs.
The decree outlines the institute’s legal and governance framework, including its management structure, training systems, and oversight mechanisms. It will operate under a public-private partnership model and will award certificates and diplomas to Moroccan and foreign trainees.
