Morocco’s U17 national team was eliminated from the U17 Africa Cup of Nations after losing 7-6 on penalties to Senegal in the semifinals on Thursday, following a 1-1 draw in regular time.

Both sides converted most of their attempts from the spot before Senegal prevailed 7-6, securing a place in the final and ending Morocco’s hopes of lifting the continental title on home soil.

The result marks a narrow semifinal exit for the hosts after a campaign that saw them reach the last four of the tournament staged in Morocco.
