Morocco will host the U17 Africa Cup of Nations in April and May 2027, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced.
Significant progress has been made in youth competitions, which remain at the heart of the African football body’s strategy for football development, CAF highlighted on its official website.
The TotalEnergies CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations 2027 will be held in Ghana in February and March 2027, while Morocco will host the TotalEnergies CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations 2027 in April and May, CAF specifies.
Egypt, for its part, will organize the U23 Africa Cup of Nations 2027, which will serve as a qualifying tournament for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
Furthermore, CAF is studying the feasibility of creating a new Women’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations, with the goal of launching this competition as early as next year, subject to the required sporting and organizational conditions being met.
This new competition will further strengthen CAF’s investments in women’s football and offer a new avenue of development and competition for young female players across the continent.
Morocco will also host the TotalEnergies CAF Futsal Africa Cup of Nations 2026 from October 12 to 21, while the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations 2026 will take place in Senegal in November, the same source notes.
Work is also continuing on the project to create an African Nations League, the format of which was examined within the CAF Executive Committee.
This project is part of CAF’s overall strategy aimed at offering Member Associations more competitive, more attractive international football that provides greater commercial value.
In addition, CAF announced that the TotalEnergies CAF Super Cup will be played on Sunday, November 8, 2026, in Tshwane, South Africa, between Mamelodi Sundowns, winner of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, and the USM Alger club, holder of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
Regarding the 2026-27 CAF interclub competitions, the same source continues, the draws for the preliminary rounds of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and the 2026-27 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup have been made, offering the participating clubs clear visibility on their path for the new continental season.
The first preliminary round of both competitions will take place from September 4 to 6, 2026, before the return legs scheduled for September 11 to 13.
The progress recorded across all these competitions constitutes an important step in CAF’s desire to establish a more stable, coherent, and predictable African football calendar.
Better visibility regarding dates and host countries allows Member Associations to plan their activities more effectively, offers players clearer competition paths, and gives broadcasters, sponsors, and fans better visibility on the main events of African football, CAF concludes.
