Moroccan club Zaytouna FC has officially joined the King’s League, the innovative 7-a-side football competition launched by former Spanish international Gerard Piqué.
The team, based in Marrakech, was granted a wild card entry personally by Piqué, a gesture seen as recognition of the club’s rising profile.
The club is co-chaired by Congolese-French artist Maître Gims and his manager Youssef Aarab.
Founded in 2019, Zaytouna FC focuses on developing local talent, particularly from Marrakech, and has built its reputation through success in five-a-side football.
Zaytouna FC boasts a string of achievements, including winning the Moroccan national tournament in 2022 and representing the country at an international tournament in Germany in 2023. The team also holds an unbeaten run of 345 matches.
