Morocco’s unemployment rate dropped to 13.1% in September 2025, down from 13.6% a year earlier, as the economy added roughly 167,000 new jobs, according to data from the country’s statistics agency (HCP).
The drop in joblessness was broad-based. In urban areas, the rate fell from 17.0% to 16.3%, while in rural areas it declined from 7.4% to 6.9%.
Youth (15–24) unemployment remains elevated at 38.4%. Unemployment rates among women (21.6%) and university graduates (19%) remain well above the national average.
The data show that of the 167,000 new positions, 164,000 were created in urban centers and 3,000 in rural zones. Services led employment gains, followed by construction (BTP) and industry, while agriculture, forestry, and fishing shed 47,000 jobs.
