Media reports circulating Sunday claimed that former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was killed in an attack targeting the Narmak district of Tehran. Iranian authorities have not officially confirmed the reports.
Unverified accounts attributed to an Iranian news agency said the area believed to house Ahmadinejad’s residence was struck amid ongoing military escalation in the region. However, Iran’s state media and government officials have not publicly acknowledged either the attack or the reported death.
Ahmadinejad served as Iran’s president from 2005 to 2013 and is a member of the Expediency Discernment Council, a key advisory body within the country’s political system.
The claims could not be independently verified.
