Morocco’s U-20 women’s soccer team has exited the FIFA World Cup, suffering a 0-2 defeat against Spain in their final Group C match. The game unfolded at Pascual-Guerrero Olympic Stadium in Cali, Colombia.
Spain took an early lead with a goal from Nahia Aparicio in the 5th minute, followed by Lucia Moral scoring in the 89th minute to secure the victory.
From the outset, the Spanish squad consistently pressured Morocco, employing an aggressive strategy that showcased their players’ individual talents and experience in high-stakes competitions. Despite Morocco’s efforts to fend off Spain’s relentless attacks, the Spanish team dominated most duels.
A standout moment for the Moroccan team came in the 65th minute when goalkeeper Fatima El Jebraoui made a crucial penalty save against Erika Gonzalez.
Earlier in the group stage, Morocco faced tough competition, losing 2-0 to Paraguay and then to the United States by the same scoreline. This tournament marked the Atlas Lioncelles’ inaugural participation in the U-20 Women’s World Cup.
In other group standings, the host nation Colombia and Mexico have also secured their spots in the Round of 16, while Brazil and France are gearing up to compete in Group B. Additionally, Germany and Nigeria will clash in Group D. The third-placed teams across groups will await their results based on goal difference, and the tournament continues in Groups E and F to determine further qualification for the knockout stage.
