The extractive sector closed the first half of 2025 on a positive trend, with rock phosphate production increasing by 15.1%, according to the Directorate of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF).
This performance reflects an acceleration in growth between the first and second quarters of 2025, rising from +11.9% in Q1 to +18.1% in Q2-2025, the DEPF explained in its recent economic report.
As for phosphate derivatives, their production improved by 6.8% at the end of June 2025, after strengthening by 30.3% a year earlier.
Regarding phosphate and derivative exports, their value rose by 18.9% in H1-2025, after a 9.2% increase a year earlier, reaching around 46.6 billion dirhams.
This momentum is the result of higher foreign sales of phosphate derivatives (+16%, after +10.1%) and crude phosphate (+51.4%, after -0.2%).
