Morocco plans to broaden the country’s 5G network coverage to 70% of its population by 2030 as part of its “Digital Morocco 2030” strategy, a cornerstone of the country’s digital transformation agenda.
Addressing parliament on Tuesday, Amal Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, said the 5G rollout is “a new phase in Morocco’s digital evolution,” designed to reinforce national infrastructure and establish the kingdom as a regional telecommunications hub.
Seghrouchni said 5G service is now operational in 60 Moroccan cities, and there have been no associated price increases for consumers. The companies have also upgraded their data packages from 30 GB to 50 GB at no extra cost to ensure broad affordability.
The government also plans to expand the country’s fiber-optic coverage to 5.6 million households by 2030, and connect 6,300 public administration sites by 2026, according to the minister delegate. A decree adopted in September requires all new housing projects to include built-in fiber-optic infrastructure.
