Morocco’s textile is gradually moving upmarket thanks to automation, digitalization, and sustainable innovation, said Anass El Ansari, president of the Moroccan Association of Textile and Clothing Industries (AMITH).
“The textile sector is undergoing a major transformation. We are witnessing a gradual move upmarket with automation, digitalization, circularity, and the emergence of new materials,” said El Ansari at the opening of the 22nd “Maroc in Mode”(MIM) show, which runs until November 7, organized by AMITH in collaboration with CEMS (international shows and congresses organizer), under the theme “Morocco, the Smart Hub for Global Textile.”
This mutation, supported by His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s will to encourage productive investment, is key to strengthening industrial sovereignty and creating more skilled jobs, he added.
The president of AMITH also noted that the Moroccan textile industry is now at a crossroads. Indeed, the sector remains an essential social driver, creating jobs for the youth and women, but is also becoming a technological driver, he pointed out.
He added that textile embodies a collective ambition: to elevate Morocco to become one of the most competitive regional platforms.
In this regard, he considered that MIM 2025 perfectly illustrates this new phase, characterized by moving upmarket, regional relocation, and productive investment, in line with the national industrialization strategy.
The exhibition, he said, features more than 200 Moroccan and foreign exhibitors from Europe, Asia, and Africa, representing nearly 100 global brands and 25 nationalities.
“This diversity reflects the confidence of foreign partners in Morocco’s textile ecosystem and its growing role in regional and global value chains. It is now here that industrial alliances are forged, sustainable models are invented, and the supply chains of the future are taking shape,” said El Ansari.
He also assured that AMITH remains committed to supporting the modernization of businesses, promoting investment and upscale development, strengthening training and skills development, and promoting Moroccan textiles as a label of quality, proximity, and sustainability.
Placed under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, MIM 2025 aims to be a major event for the future of the Moroccan textile industry, showcasing national expertise and serving as a springboard for new international collaborations.
