A new installment of The Mummy is set to film partly in Morocco as Universal Pictures moves forward with a revival of the franchise ahead of a planned May 19, 2028 theatrical release, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The report said filming will take place in Morocco alongside scenes scheduled in London, with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz expected to reprise their roles as Rick and Evelyn O’Connell. John Hannah is also set to return.

The project will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, known collectively as Radio Silence, with a screenplay by David Coggeshall.

Morocco has become a regular destination for major productions, with locations such as Ouarzazate and Marrakech frequently used for large scale shoots, including earlier entries in the franchise.
