The International Tourism Fair of Berlin (ITB) opened Tuesday with more than 170 countries participating, including Morocco with a large Moroccan pavilion promoting the kingdom as Africa’s top travel destination, Morocco’s Press Agency (MAP) reported.
Covering 730 square meters, Morocco’s pavilion is one of the largest at ITB Berlin 2025. Achraf Fayda, the Director General of the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT), opened the pavilion in a ceremony with Berlin’s Mayor-Governor Kai Wegner, UN World Tourism Organization Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, Germany’s Federal Coordinator for Maritime Economy and Tourism Dieter Janecek, and Messe Berlin President Mario Tobias.
A number of Moroccan tourism professionals attended, including Agadir Souss-Massa Regional Tourism Council President Salah-Eddine Benhammane, National Tourism Confederation and Marrakech-Safi Regional Tourism Council President Hamid Bentahar, National Federation of the Hotel Industry President Lahcen Zelmat, and National Federation of Regional Travel Associations President Mohamed Semlani.
Representatives from Morocco’s carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM), travel agencies, and national hotel chains were also present.
Wegner praised Morocco’s participation, calling it a major tourism country with breathtaking landscapes, a rich culture, and welcoming people.
ITB Berlin, a key global tourism fair, is an opportunity for ONMT to promote Morocco, strengthen existing partnerships, establish new collaborations, and explore development opportunities.
Air travel, a crucial component of tourism, is front and center at the fair. Moroccan professionals are engaging with major German and international airline operators.
Beyond the pavilion, Morocco is hosting an immersive evening on Wednesday, organized by the Agadir Souss-Massa Regional Tourism Council. The fair will showcase Morocco’s culinary and musical heritage, offering international tourism professionals an authentic experience and potential business opportunities. It will also highlight Agadir’s tourism assets and development prospects.
Under the theme “The World of Travel Lives Here,” ITB Berlin 2025 is featuring a record 5,800 exhibitors from over 170 countries this year, confirming its status as the world’s largest professional travel and tourism fair.
Founded in 1966, ITB Berlin has become the leading international tourism trade show, with additional trade shows in Asia, China, and India.
