Lawmakers from both the majority and the opposition said a new agreement linking the House of Representatives to Morocco national right to information portal will widen public access to parliamentary records and limit the spread of false claims.
The deal, signed with the national access to information commission, will place legislative documents and oversight data on a single platform, giving citizens and researchers direct access to records on lawmaking and government scrutiny.
Mohamed Chouki, head of the National Rally of Independents group, said the move strengthens transparency and allows the public to judge parliamentary work based on official documents rather than political messaging. He said unchecked allegations often damage reputations without evidence and that material placed on the portal could clarify responsibility.
Chouki also said attention should focus on verified minutes and data, not viral claims.
Abdellah Bouanou, leader of the Justice and Development Party group, welcomed the portal but said transparency is undermined when the executive delays answers to written questions.
He accused the government of withholding information and said written questions are a constitutional oversight tool, not a favor. Bouanou said the platform must not serve to shield the majority from accountability.
He cited livestock figures as an example where official numbers changed, arguing that publishing authoritative data would reduce confusion.
Majority parties said the portal strengthens institutional trust while opposition figures said it must be paired with full disclosure by ministries.
Both sides agreed that access to accurate information is essential for democratic credibility.
