A high-level Catalan government and business delegation visited Rabat on Tuesday to explore opportunities for expanding trade, investment and industrial cooperation with Morocco, with discussions focusing on sectors including renewable energy, water management, automotive manufacturing and technology.
The meeting, held at the headquarters of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region, brought together Moroccan business leaders and officials with a delegation led by Miquel Sàmper Rodríguez, Catalonia’s minister of business and labor.
According to organizers, the talks aimed to strengthen economic partnerships between Morocco and Spain while encouraging greater trade, investment and cooperation between the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region and Catalonia through the exchange of expertise and business opportunities.
Hassan Sakhi, president of the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra Chamber of Commerce, said the visit reflects ongoing efforts to deepen economic relations between Morocco and Spain.
“The primary objective of this visit is to strengthen partnerships between Moroccan and Spanish companies, encourage mutual investment, boost trade and facilitate the exchange of expertise,” Sakhi told Hespress.
He said the chamber is committed to helping make the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region a leading economic hub by supporting businesses and facilitating commercial and investment partnerships that contribute to sustainable development and job creation.
Joan Al-Sri, director of the Catalonia Trade & Investment Office in Casablanca, which operates under Catalonia’s business competitiveness agency ACCIÓ, said the delegation’s visit seeks to build stronger commercial ties between Catalonia and Morocco.

He said discussions focused on several strategic sectors, including water management, waste management, energy and renewable energy, the automotive industry and broader trade opportunities.
Al-Sri expressed hope that the meetings would lead to concrete agreements that strengthen future economic cooperation between Morocco and Catalonia.
Addressing the Catalan delegation, Sakhi said the visit reflects the strong friendship and cooperation between Morocco and Spain and demonstrates a shared commitment to deepening bilateral relations between the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region and Catalonia.

He highlighted the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region as one of Morocco’s leading economic centers, citing its modern infrastructure, skilled workforce and diversified economy as key advantages for investors.
Sakhi added that closer cooperation with Catalonia, one of Spain’s most industrialized and innovative regions, could create new partnership opportunities in strategic sectors, including manufacturing, agribusiness, logistics, technology, energy transition, innovation and vocational training.
He reaffirmed the chamber’s readiness to facilitate contacts between Moroccan and Catalan businesses and support investment initiatives aimed at creating long-term economic value and employment.
