Formula 1 will bring back the Turkish Grand Prix in 2027, marking its first return to the calendar in six years, according to the BBC.
The race will be held at Istanbul Park under a deal that runs through at least 2031, officials said.
Türkiye previously hosted Formula 1 races from 2005 to 2011 before dropping off the schedule. The race briefly returned in 2020 and 2021 as the series adjusted its calendar during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Istanbul circuit is notable as the site where Lewis Hamilton secured his record-tying seventh world championship in 2020.
Formula 1 said the addition of Türkiye will not expand the calendar beyond its current 24-race limit. Instead, the Turkish Grand Prix will take place as other race contracts expire or rotate out. For example, the Belgian Grand Prix is set to host four races over six years from 2026 to 2031 under a new rotational agreement.
Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed the return of the race, highlighting the sport’s popularity in the country and its strong following among younger fans.
Formula 1 President Stefano Domenicali said the series is “delighted” to return to Istanbul, calling the track one of the most exciting and challenging circuits on the calendar.
